Divsion Technic:
210 ÷ 14 = 140 ÷ 14 + 70 ÷ 14
= 10 + 5
= 15
Method :
i) split 210 into 140 and 70 because it is much easier to divide
140 by 14 and 70 by 14 than it is to divide 210 by 14;
ii) divide 140 by 14 to give 10;
iii) divide 70 by 14 to give 5;
iv) add the two results: 10 + 5 = 15.
Decimals to fractions
Here is some exemple of decimals to fraction conversion.
0.25 = nought point two five = one-quarter
0.5 = nought point five = one-half
0.75 = nought point seven five = three-quarters
0.1 = nought point one = one-tenth
0.2 = nought point two = one-fifth
0.125 = nought point one two five = one-eighth
0.375 = nought point three seven five = three-eighths
0.01 = nought point nought one = one hundredth
0.001 = nought point nought nought one = one-thousandth
0.005 = nought point nought nought five = five-thousandths
Percentage Math:
A percent can be expressed as a decimal by dividing the
numerator by 100
70% = 70.0/100 = 0.7
Some equivalent decimal and their percent value :-
1/10 = 0.1 = 10%
1/4 = 0.25 = 25%
1/3 = 0.33 = 33.3%
1/2 = 0.5 = 50%
2/3 = 0.67 = 66.7%
3/4 = 0.75 = 75%
1/8 = 0.125 = 12.5%
3/8 = 0.375 = 37.5%
How to convert a fraction to a decimal or a percent ?
12/25 = (12 x 4) / (25 x 4) = 48/100 = 0.48 = 48%
Aspects of algebra :
The order in which to work out a sum containing more then
one arithmetic sign.
BIDMAS
The order of working out problems is:
B = Brackets;
I = Indices;
D = Division;
M = Multiplication;
A = Addition;
S = Subtraction
First brackets then indices then division so on.
